Case study

Boston Civic Media, Metrics and Methods

Boston Civic Media: Metrics and Methods was the first annual meeting of the Boston Civic Media Consortium, and it was focused on the state of civic media research in the Boston area. Boston/Cambridge is home to dozens of programs, centers and departments focused on the study and production of civic media. This event was the first of its kind to bring together researchers and practitioners locally to identify methodological and institutional approaches to doing this work.

We gathered a core group of researchers from fields including sociology, policy, communications, and education, as well as practitioners from government, advocacy and community organizations to discuss approaches to measurement, evaluation, and co-design.

I was the main conference producer and, along with Aidan Rae O'Donoghue, designed the conference program.
